Felt Flowers

I've been making felt flowers lately.  Thanks, of course, to Pinterest.  I pinned a couple different types, tried a few out and found two that I love to make.  They are pretty much fool proof.  And once you make one, you might as well make another...and another, and another.  And then of course, you might as well try one in another color.

Easy Felt Flowers

1.  Cut one piece of felt in thirds.  You need a circle template...about 2 inches in diameter.  I found that an old canning lid works great.
2.  Cut out 9 circles
3.  Put a drop of hot glue in the center of one circle and fold in 3rds.
4.  Repeat with 8 circles.  The last one will become the base.

5.  Hot glue pieces to the center of the base one at a time.
6.  Keep gluing until you have four on the bottom layer
7.  Go back and glue the remaining 4 pieces into the four remaining holes.
8. If you want, cut out two leaves and glue to back

9.  Now using really sharp scissors take the top of the flower and trim the edges until they all match and are the same size.
10.  Add a hair clip or pin to the back

*I made some today using a 1inch circle which turned out adorable.  Avery thought the tiny one was absolutely perfect for her.

I think they are fun pinned in hair, on a headband, on a shirt, coat or even your purse.

The twisty ones are even easier to make.  Cut a circle, any size, and spiral it into a spiral.  Then starting at the end, add a drop of glue and roll.  Adding glue as you roll - and roll until the flower is the shape you want.
Then simply add a single leaf and pin on the end.

Really, I find that once I make one, I just want to keep making them.

They are fun to make and fun to give.

So...leave me a comment saying what color you like the best (it doesn't have to be shown here) and which type you like by Sunday night.  Then Monday I will randomly draw a name, make you a flower and send it your way!

How fun! I may have to give it a try! Although, in general, hot glue is not my friend. I'll let you make me on instead :). Yay!

Those are darling! I am so envious of your crafty skills, I am seriously lacking in that department! The big dark pink one is my fave.
